Vacation program Q&As

What types of positions are available?
We recruit from the following discipline areas: Engineering (Mining, Electrical, Mechanical, Geotechnical), Environmental Science, Geology and Metallurgy.

Where could I be based for my role?
Vacation Students have the opportunity to work at one of our Australian operations in Orange, NSW or the Pilbara region in WA.

When can I apply for the vacation program?
Applications for our Vacation Program generally open in or around September of each year,  however is subject to change depending on business requirements.

I have applied to Newcrest before. Can I reapply?
You are welcome to reapply. To be eligible you must be currently studying or just completed a relevant degree.

Do you pay relocation expenses?
If you have to move to start your role with us, we will meet reasonable costs associated with your relocation, including:

- Rental assistance for the 12 week period of the placement.
- Return flights for you at the commencement and completion of your program.

I need a work visa. Should I arrange one before I apply?
You can submit your application without having a work visa. If your application is successful and you need a work visa, the offer will be conditional upon obtaining a work visa. We cannot guarantee the approval of your work visa.

How should I dress for my interview?
Your initial interview will be conducted either over the phone or in a capital city location.   Smart business dress is appropriate for an interview conducted in person.
