Greg Robinson

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer
 

Greg served as Director Finance of Newcrest from 2006 to 2011 and was appointed Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Newcrest in July 2011.

Prior to joining Newcrest, Greg was a Director of Investment Banking at Merrill Lynch & Co before he was with the BHP Billiton Group from 2001 to 2006 in various executive roles, including Chief Finance and Chief Development Officer, Energy and Chief Financial Officer, Petroleum. Greg was also a member of the BHP Billiton Group Executive Committee.

Greg is a Director of the Minerals Council of Australia, the World Gold Council and St. Vincent’s Institute.

Gerard Bond

Finance Director and Chief Financial Officer
 

Gerard joined Newcrest as Finance Director and Chief Financial Officer in January 2012 and was appointed to the Board in February 2012.

Gerard has 23 years’ experience in the global financial and resources industry with BHP Billiton, Coopers & Lybrand and Price Waterhouse. Prior to joining Newcrest he was with BHP Billiton for over 14 years where he held a number of senior executive roles including Deputy CFO of the Aluminum business, CFO and then Acting President of the Nickel business, and most recently was BHP Billiton’s Head of Group Human Resources. 

Gerard is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australia and an Alternate Director of the World Gold Council.

Sandeep Biswas

Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer

 

Sandeep joined Newcrest as Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer on 1 January 2014.

Sandeep was previously Chief Executive Officer of Pacific Aluminium, a wholly owned subsidiary within the Rio Tinto group, which incorporated the bauxite, alumina, refining and smelting operations in Australia and New Zealand. He began his career with Mount Isa Mines, working in both Australia and Europe. Sandeep has also worked for Western Mining in Australia and Rio Tinto in Canada and Australia.  He has experience in research, operations, business development and projects, across commodities including aluminium, copper, lead, zinc and nickel. 

Craig Jones

BEng (Mechanical)

Executive General Manager - Australian Operations & Projects
 

Craig is responsible for the Cadia Valley and Telfer operations, Asset Management & Projects. Craig joined Newcrest in 2008 as General Manager Projects. In 2010 he held the role of General Manager Cadia Valley Operations in New South Wales. Craig was appointed Executive General Manager - Projects in July 2012 and in March 2013 he assumed additional responsibility for Asset Management, and subsequently worked as Executive General Manager - Australia and Indonesian Operations. Prior to joining Newcrest, Craig worked in projects at Rio Tinto.

Colin Moorhead

Executive General Manager - Minerals
 

Colin has worked as an exploration and mining geologist at Newcrest in various roles since 1987 including Chief Geologist at Telfer, Cadia and Gosowong.  In 2006 he took on the role of General Manager Technical Services for the Newcrest Group. Colin was appointed Executive General Manager - Minerals in January 2008.

Colin is a Fellow of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.

Debra Stirling

BA (Government and Journalism)

Executive General Manager - People and Communications

 

Debra was appointed Executive General Manager - People and Communications in January 2008, with responsibility for human resources and internal communications.

She has more than 20 years’ experience in executive roles in ASX Top 20 companies across manufacturing, construction materials, retail and mining.  Prior to joining Newcrest, Debra was Vice President, Corporate Affairs and Investor Relations with Rinker Group Limited.

Debra has been a Non-Executive Director of Federation Centres Limited since December 2011. She is a member of the Monash University Mining Advisory Board and a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Geoff Day

Executive General Manager – Sustainability and External Affairs
 

In November 2008 Geoff joined Newcrest as Executive General Manager - Operations, and in August 2010 was appointed as Executive General Manager - Papua New Guinea and Indonesia. In April 2013, following a two year period as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer at Kagara Ltd, Geoff was appointed Executive General Manager - Sustainability and External Affairs.

Prior to joining Newcrest in 2008, Geoff was at Rio Tinto where he was Chief Adviser Processing, and Regional General Manager Africa & Europe.

David Woodall

Executive General Manager International Operations

 

David joined Newcrest in February 2014 with responsibility for the Lihir, Indonesian and Côte d’Ivoire operations, reporting to Sandeep Biswas. He has a strong mining operations background, with almost 30 years in the industry, working for Australian and international mining companies.  David’s most recent role was Director of Operations at Fortescue Metals Group and his career includes operations roles with Placer Dome Inc., Glencore International, Sino Gold, Robe River, Altynalmas Gold and Western Mining Corporation.

David is a Member of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.

Francesca Lee

BComm, LLB (Hons), LLM, Grad. Dip. CSP, AGIA

Company Secretary and General Counsel

 

Francesca joined Newcrest as General Counsel and Company Secretary on 31 March 2014. She was formerly the General Counsel and Company Secretary with the Melbourne-based copper miner OZ Minerals Limited from 2008 until 2014, and its antecedent companies from 2003.  Francesca has more than 26 years’ experience working within the mining industry including BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto Limited and Comalco – across various legal and commercial roles. She also spent several years as Vice President Structured Finance with Citibank Limited.

Francesca is a member of the Federal Government’s Takeovers Panel.
